#3 Thursday Thirteen-Time Travel

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I had a hard time deciding which Topic I wanted to cover.
I had a few in mind. But none really seemed to "click".
Monday Morning I woke up and went Straight to the office where my husband was and exclaimed that I knew exactly what I wanted to do my Thursday Thirteen over.
Time Travel!
Not going Forward in Time, but Back in time.
At first, I had a hard time figuring where all I would go and what I would want to see.
This list is filled with fun things as well as historical things.
So, my question to you is. If you could go back in time....where would you go?
Here's my 13 in NO particular order.
1. To the building of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Built during the The fourth Dynasty.

2. July 17, 1954-Elvis Presley's Earliest Concert/show. *I shamelessly admit I like Elvis' music and movie's.

3. Dec. 31, 2004-New Years Eve, My sister's wedding. I was living in Germany and wasn't able to attend.
4. Autumn of 1621-First Thanksgiving Feast. By The pilgrims and Wampanoag to celebrate the colony's first successful harvest.
5. March 4, 1861- The Inauguration of President Abraham Lincoln.
6. The life of Moses-This is my favorite Bible Story and I just can't pick one passage of his life.
7. August 2, 1776-The day most of the delegates signed the declaration of independence.
8. 1972-The year my husband was 6 years old. I would love to see the way he behaved.
9. 1971-The year my mother graduated High School. I love to see how she actually acted. I remember her always telling me...I never_____(fill in the blank). But sometimes I wonder WHAT she did do?
10. May 30, 1939-This was the year that my paternal grandparents were married. I would have loved to have seen there wedding. I was actually born on May 30, 1973. It was there 34 wedding anniversary.
11.1897- Cotton Candy! This was the year cotton candy was invented. Orginally called "Fairy Floss". It was invented by Nashville, TN candy makers William Morrison and John C. Wharton.

12. 1941-To watch the Andrew Sister's sing. Love there song "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy".

13. 1980's-I would love to Meet the Lucid President Reagan.

*Daily Thankful thought #11-For little boy's that love there mommy's.

Wouldn't it be great to travel in time? I would love to do #1 as well. I did a similar T13 list once in my other blog
. And your #1 is exactly like my #1. lol. Oh the possibilities huh? If only!

Don't you wish we do have a time machine invented so that we can revisit all those fond moments in life? =) I would not go to Egypt I guess, but I'd love to witness the murder of Julius Caesar. Sounds violent, but it's because the next day 2029 years later I was born.

I would love to travel back in time also. Two events I would like to visit is Times Square on VJ Day when everyone knew the war was over. The other is the summer of 1961 when my parents, who just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary, met and fell in love. Great TT list. Happy Thursday!

What a great idea for a list. I'll have to have a good think about what I'd like to see.

PS National Geographic did a really good reenactment type documentary on the building of the pyramids, with a slave laborer's perspective. Really humanized it...

What a really neat idea for a list! I couldn't think of one either this week and my kids were no help...so food seemed easy.

Your list is really eclectic, but I think I am a wuss and wouldn't really want the inconveniences of living in the past, but if I could watch it from afar, that would be interesting.

I'd like to see how Caxton developed his movable type. Or Maybe DaVinci working on one of his masterpieces. Or meet Will before the world knew Shakespeare.

What a great list! I'll have to think about "when" I'd like to visit--there are so many possibilities! Thanks for visiting my blog.

This is a very cool and creative TT. I'll have to remember this. ;-)

With your #1 I kept thinking it would be fascinating, sure, to see the pyramids built as long as you didn't end up drafted onto the building crew. With my luck I'd be squashed!

And yes, imagine with a time machine being able to meet people before they became famous, knowing that one day they would have a role in shaping the world or their part of it. Gives you goosebumps.

Go back in time?

Hmm. To see all those shows I missed, the performers now gone...

Yeah, that's tempting all right!

Wow, what a neat idea. Love your list and would probably incorporate special events in the life of my family also. Very entertaining and thought provoking idea.

I would definitely go to Egypt! I'm such an Egyptophile...is that even a word. LOL I think we should go back to calling Cotton Candy Fairy Floss. That is just too adorable. I think I'll start a movement.

I would love to go back and see a play of Shakespear's. Sit in the Globe and watch the crowd. That would be very cool.

And then I'd come straight home!

This is a great one -- you really put a lot of thought into this! It makes me think of all the events in the past I would love to be a part of (*sigh* Elvis's concert would definitely be one of them!) I love The King too!

Happy Thursday!

Good idea! I would go back to the 60´s, Woodstock, because I love the music from that time period.

I would also go back to 1997, when I was 17 and tell myself to leave home. I almost did at that age, after a massive blowout with my father, but chickened out. If I had of done it, I would have had a far different (better?) life! I regret the fact that I wasted another 3 years living under his roof and rules!

This is a really spiffy list. I have to admit to a huge fascination with time travel and when I daydream, time travel is usually involved.

About the Elvis concert. My Aunt Teresa, who's now about 69-70, saw him in concert before he became a national star and would play small places throughout the south. She saw him in concert in the the 1950s at her junior high in Bastrop, Louisiana. Bastrop's in northeast Louisiana and has a population of about 15,000. Blows my mind to think about him playing that little school auditorium.

I just read last week about something I never knew happened, that last week in 1967, Jimi Hendrix Experience joined The Monkees' north American tour for like 5-10 shows, but the teen girl audience there for The Monkees didn't know what to make of Hendrix, so they left the tour after a couple of weeks. Is that crazy or what.

When I read that, I thought, "I would LOVE to have seen one of those concerts!"

Wow, what a wonderful TT idea! I think #1, 5, and 9 would definitely be interesting to witness.

Thanks for visiting my list! :-)

This is one of the best posts I've read in a long time -- very original!!
If I could go back in time, I'd choose anytime between 1916 and 1968 so I could meet my father, who died before my second birthday.

Oooo.... Egypt, the pyramids! I'd LOVE to go there -- today! :)

I would not have wanted to be around for the construction of the pyramids. They might have put me to work. The Andrews Sisters on the other hand are awesome and would have loved to see them! My aunt (if you remember from my T13, the one that we carried her ashes around trying to spread them around the statue of Stevie Ray Vaughn) used to dress my cousins and me up as them and we would put on a show to "Hey Daddy".

I'm actually related to him, so I'd love that one too!

This is a very creative list for Thursday Thirteen. I need to learn to think outside of the box more I guess. I can't believe I read somewhere on your blog that you have only been blogging a couple of weeks??? but that you have 40 comments on your post already. Wow!
